Digital Product Reseller Rights: What to Check
The words reseller rights can cover very different permissions. Before selling a digital product, read the specific license and understand exactly what you are allowed to do.
Start with the actual license
Do not rely on a general label such as reseller, PLR, or MRR by itself. The written terms for the specific product should explain what you can sell, modify, rename, bundle, or give away.
If the terms are unclear, get clarification before advertising permissions to your own customers.
Check what can be changed
Some licenses allow editing, branding, or repackaging while others only allow resale in the original form. Make sure you know whether you can change the title, cover, files, pricing, or included materials.
Understand how customers receive the product
Plan a reliable delivery process before you begin selling. Customers should know what they are purchasing, how access is delivered, and what they need to open the files.
Keep the product description aligned with what is actually included.
Keep records of your rights
Save the license, purchase record, product version, and any written clarification you receive. If the product is updated later, keep track of which terms applied to the version you sold.
Avoid promising income
Reseller access gives you permission to sell within the license terms; it does not guarantee demand, revenue, or profit. Your results still depend on the offer, audience, pricing, marketing, customer support, and compliance with the platforms you use.
Match your marketing to the license
Your sales page should describe only the permissions you can document. If the license allows resale but not editing, do not market the files as fully customizable. If rights vary across items in a bundle, explain that clearly rather than treating every file as identical.
Clear terms reduce customer confusion and make it easier to support buyers later. Keep a copy of the wording you used when you sold a particular version so you can resolve questions consistently.
